Glossary
  • Ad Receipt - A form used as proof of payment for an advertisement on a calendar. We have one specific to tear sheet and pictorial found in Resources.
  • Calendar Title - A calendar title is normally printed just below the ribbon banner on a Tear Sheet Calendar and is used to identify the type of calendar.
  • Copy - The words or phrases contained in a display ad
  • Date Block - The words or phrases contained in a display ad
  • Directory Ad - A one line business ad on a calendar that contains the name of the business and the phone number.
  • Display Ad - An advertising space on a calendar that can contain copy and business logos
  • DPI - A measurement of resolution for digital files. Digital files must be a minimum of 300 dpi at the printed size for acceptable quality printing.
  • Extra Date Block - Squares before the first day of the month or after the last day of the month.
  • EZ Online (EZO) - EZ Online (EZO) is a software program made available to Gordon Bernard Company customers to assist them in assembling their calendar order.
  • Listing - A birthday, anniversary, community event, or school activity that is printed on a date block on the calendar.
  • Logo - An emblem or special image supplied by the business to be included in a display ad
  • Mini Order Forms - An 8 1/2" X 11" form used to collect calendar orders along with birthdays and anniversaries.
  • Organizational Copy - Each calendar can contain the equivalent of two display ad spaces for promoting the sponsoring organization. There is no charge for these two spaces.
  • Pad - The monthly sheets in a Tear Sheet Calendar
  • Pictorial Calendar - An 11" X 20" calendar with 6 sheets, folded and stapled in the center with a different picture and/or advertising on each month
  • Pocket Planner - A monthly or weekly calendar that is 3 3/4" X 6 1/2" when folded. The outside cover can be customized with photos and ads.
  • Ribbon Banner - A printed ribbon at the top of a tear sheet calendar that usually contains the name of the organization sponsoring the calendar.
  • Road Map to Success - A step by step outline of tasks for completing a calendar project.
  • Special Type - A font unique to a business to be used in a display ad
  • Split Dates - Date blocks split into two dates when there are more than four Saturdays, Sundays, or Mondays in a month
  • Standard Block Type - A font  used on calendar advertising
  • Standard Holidays - A list of the 23 holidays that are included at no charge on all GBC Calendars. Click here to view the list. Holidays can be added or deleted via EZO.
  • Starting Pad - The month your calendar starts with (i.e. and January Pad refers to a calendar that starts with January)
  • Tear Sheet Calendar - An 11" X 20" calendar with 12 monthly sheets (pad) and a single area above the pad for advertising and/or pictures

We have on-site professional photo editors who are experts when it comes to your picture. We prefer you leave the scanning up to us. However, if you decide to scan your own picture, here are the specs:

Photos

  • 300 dpi or dots per inch
  • minimum size 3.5” x 7”
  • maximum size 7.5” x 10”
  • save the file as a JPG, TIFF or EPS


Artwork & Logos

  • graphics & images: at least 300 dpi
    finished size
  • line Art: 600 dpi
  • save the file as JPG, TIFF or EPS
